BACKGROUND
ASTRA was established in 1946 for the civil conversion of military equipment.
In 1951, he was moved from Cagliari to Piacenza, where ASTRA was produced: the IMT dumper (1956).
Over the next ten years, the range of products has been expanded using more models of dump trucks and the production of special frames for concrete mixing trucks.
DEVELOPMENT
In 1965, ASTRA expands production facilities.
New models are launched to meet new tasks: BM12, BM16, BM18, BM19, BM20, BM21, BM22, BM25 and BM35.
In 1970, ASTRA began developing the BE8440 and BE10660 frames for mobile cranes.
In 1982, a new series of 300, and in 1984 the BM501 - the first model with a choice between automatic and manual transmission.
In the same year, ASTRA participates in the Paris-Dakar rally with its BM309.
